You don't need any hiking experience or gadgets only warm clothes and a camera to capture picturesque view of Reykjavík and the Atlantic Ocean. The mountain Esja is 914m (2,999 ft) in elevation and is situated in the south-west of Iceland about 10 km to the north of Iceland's capital city.  From the mountain top one can see west the Snaefellsnes peninsula and its famous glacier that is a part of a story by Jules Verne.  To the east one can see Hekla on a clear day but most definately Lake Thingvallarvatn, Hengillinn with its hot springs, and to the south the Blue Mountains and finally the Reykjanes peninsula in its entirety.  If one is a passenger on the nemerous cruise ships a unique picture can be taken from Mount Esja.
